Let’s assume that food is complex and nutrition is wicked hard. Doubt, even confusion become markers of good observation. And expecting easy, clear answers becomes irrational. What I believe the food industry excels at doing is the rational manipulation of an irrational set of beliefs and values.

I'd go one step farther - we have a concerted effort by people selling food to get Americans *not* to think. If we all shut down our common sense, they can sell us anything.
