There's a project at our university right now x-raying books from the early modern period to see what scraps of even older books reman. Because the book covers are made from recycling older (and, by then, useless) book pages. Accepting books become trash is not even a new thing!

This is completely wrong. If I can't afford to buy 3 books priced at £80+, is that because the content isn't 'worth it' or because the pricing is unaffordable? It's also an argument for the 'best' scholarship to be the least affordable and the most inaccessible. I have been successfully provoked!
