I’m about halfway through this update (first 11 tutorials are done). I think they’re a lot better. Using a consistent @easystats.github.io workflow throughout will - I think - massively reduce the cognitive load for students. Looking forward to road testing in autumn term.

Many of ‘my lot’ will be dusting off their sabbath albums today, but I’m going for this, which came out when I was 13 and I think is a brilliant album. Transports me back in time to a really exciting time in metal music.

We have reluctantly returned to in person exams for all methods modules because it is the only way to ensure integrity, but it also penalises certain kinds of students. The vast majority of students don’t use AI, the minority make things worse for the majority.

Great opportunity to work with my very lovely office mate.

Fun episode. Two follow ups: (1) stadium sound always depends on where you are. It was great front standing, can imagine it was echoey shite elsewhere. (2) speed: they played aces high about 10bpm slower than on powerslave, but I think it’s better for it.

After more than 7 years working on it, I’ve just submitted the manuscript for Discovering Statistics using R second edition. Tonnes more work on website/package and so on, but getting to this stage is monumental psychologically. It’s the book I feared I’d never finish.

Well, that’s my plan for the day fucked. Looks like I won’t be screaming for Glasgow tonight. I tried to do a mini tour with iron maiden over the last 10 days, here’s my travel experiences.

A lot of flexing happens on social media. for balance, I’m in an absolute motivational pit with the textbook I’m writing. Chapter 15 is breaking my soul. I have no inspiration, no enthusiasm … just, nothing. I wake every day and find new and inventive ways to procrastinate.
