For 58€ a month I can ride on almost any public transport anywhere in Germany. Within a 15 minute walk from my house I can access 4 S Bahn lines, 3 UBahn lines, regional trains (I honestly don’t even know how many of those), 3 tram lines and at least 4 city bus lines (probably more).

If I’m understanding right, Aaron Clauset at Peer Review Congress showing that the strongest correlate of peer review outcomes at Science and Science Advances is the prestige of authors’ institutions. Also pretty big association with author geography, not much with author gender.

Apropos of nothing.... Peer-review should be rigorous, not rude. Critique the work, not the author team. Explain, don’t sneer. Build science up, don’t beat the authors down. Respect in peer-reviews isn’t optional — it’s how good research gets better.
