Another detail from Merchant’s Tale - the Lone Swordmaster boss the same moves as Zenos (such as Concetravity). This is in reference to the short story “The Hunt Begins,” where a captured Corvosi blademaster tutors Zenos, and is ultimately killed by him (the Triple Triad card references this).

I just had the most surreal experience of reading my before-sleep fanfic of the day on ao3 from a relatively small fandom (less than 300 fics) and noticing the fic I'd randomly chosen was a gift fic for an author I recognized... someone who used to leave comments on my fics back in 2004 or so.
