Ballots begin to drop today. Remember, members decide their Deputy. It’s a party role not a government one. In the great traditions, I would be a distinctive voice, the members voice, full-time.

We're grateful to both campaigns for engaging with us and answering our questions. In our view, @lucympowell.bsky.social is the deputy leadership candidate that is better placed to advocate for trans rights within Labour.

A strong majority of Labour members under 45 stand strongly with the trans community 🏳️‍⚧️ But it’s no surprise the membership as a whole is split in two when the government have treated this issue in such a divisive way. The LGBT+ community deserves better.

Despite concerns by MPs and the two relevant select committees, Mary-Ann Stephenson’s appointment as EHRC Chair has gone ahead - this is incredibly concerning.

As of Today, the LGBT Labour National Committee is run by an entirely unelected group of individuals for the first time in its 50-year history. Democracy has been abolished by the committee for the committee. Only three of us voted to keep it.

The decision that the LGBT Labour National Committee made this evening to cancel our AGM at the last minute is an unprecedented overreach of their authority, will allow them to stay in office longer than our constitution allows and is blindingly anti-democratic.

This is outrageous by the London centric @LGBTLabour I’ve paid for my train ticket from Bristol, non-refundable to keep the cost down. That’s money I’m now going to lose 😡. They can kick the AGM down the road & give themselves more time to organise, but we’re still standing.

I'm really concerned that LGBT+ Labour have postponed their AGM, creating unnecessary uncertainty around when and where the meeting will be held, and leaving trans members unclear as to whether their identities will be respected at the AGM.

Thank you to my (many) professional colleagues who, appalled by the Supreme Court decision, have reached out to offer their help pro or low bono in service of the trans community. For our amoral political class it's all a game but my colleagues know it's deadly serious.

EHRC’s interim guidance is awful: an overextension of what was decided by the Supreme Court, and with chilling ramifications. When they say there are circumstances where trans people can be excluded from public life altogether, you know it’s about more than delivering “clarity”.

Looking forward to the time when Bridget Phillipson MP* calls out in a debate the bullying and harassment by JK Rowling against me, a Labour politician. * Or Karin Smyth. Or Keir Starmer.
