Horrified to hear that a woman was fatally stabbed on Monday evening at a residential property in Tulse Hill. A man was arrested at the site on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm, and threats to kill. There will be an increased police presence over the coming days.

The Renters' Rights Act entered into law this week. This legislation will deliver major improvements for renters, including the end of no fault evictions. The government must enact it ASAP. Our next steps must focus on affordability and limiting rent increases.

After two years of unimaginable horror and suffering, today's ceasefire and the release of captives is a huge relief. Western governments must now work to ensure this is not just a temporary reprieve. Israel must not be permitted to resume its genocidal assault on Gaza.

Horrible to hear news of the arson attack on a mosque in Peacehaven over the weekend - sadly not the first time it had been targeted. We must unite against hatred, terror and racism in all their forms. Nobody should fear violence at their place of worship.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is heading into the final stages of its mission to break Israel’s blockade. Other governments have sent ships to escort the flotilla. Ours has not even spoken up for the safety of participants, including 13 British citizens & at least 3 British ships.

Trump’s proposed carve-up of Gaza is not a basis for lasting peace, let alone justice; it is a basis for colonial rule, permanent occupation and continued violence against Palestinians. The Palestinian people must decide Gaza's future; not Netanyahu, Trump or Blair.

On Thursday evening, I met with residents of Bellevue Mansions and Rhodesia Park to hear their views on the proposed demolitions and redevelopment. I will be raising their concerns with the developer and stressing that residents must be properly consulted.
