Heart-lung bypass lowered kidney blood flow by about half and lowered oxygen levels in the kidney tissue. The brain's blood flow and oxygen levels were not much changed. When noradrenaline was used, kidney oxygen levels dropped more than with vasopressin.

Among 73,813 patients, 9495 (12.9%) lost the ability to live independently after surgery. Patients who were classified as underweight or living with obesity class 3 or 4 had an increased likelihood of adverse discharge.

SNAP3 Message 4b: Frailty assessment isnât an end-of-the-bed-o-gram. Put anyone in a hospital gown with an iv running and they probably âlookâ frailer than when they walked in. Smartly dressed in clinic doesnât mean someone isnât struggling with activities of daily living.

I still think represents the most shocking void in the UKâs COVID response - when the largest biomedical facility offered to undertake testing (many universities did the same) the government didnât even answer. The cost would have been minimal. But no profit for private companies⊠is that it?

In fact, while I'm at it, what are you teaching? Management of the ward round for when you're on your lonesome as an F1? Clinical reasoning? Basic sciences? Comms? This probably differs based on student grade and specialty. But they all likely require different approaches.

So we can have a profound affect on Medical Students. John was a great mentor of mine at a time when women had few mentors. If we engage and promote our specialty you will be surprised at what can happen. I think ward rounds can be a great experience, but we have to make it so
