The BBC should be "impartial", but that doesn't mean refusing to make judgments. A jury or a football referee should be "impartial": they should not be "partial", or prejudiced, to one side or other. But that doesn't excuse them from making decisions. It's why we trust them to do so.

I understand the pressures on the BBC, but Radio 4's coverage of the Minneapolis shooting is an example of "bad balance". It's all "the Trump regime says she was a terrorist, but Democrats say it was murder". The BBC has the footage. It doesn't have to treat truth and falsehood as equally valid.

If the President has seen a different video, he should release it. But the evidence available does not show an officer being run over or a justification for shots to be fired. The rush to excuse this shooting is expected but abhorrent. Gather the facts. Do your job.

The idea that London has become less safe in recent years is quite strange - just look at how once "dangerous" areas have been transformed in recent years. Gentrification comes with its own issues but streets are packed with visitors and city far more welcoming than when I moved here a decade ago.

I reckon over the past decade I have been sexually harassed ten times more often inside the Palace of Westminster than I have on London streets
