I was in Sicily 8 years ago to advance the G7. While walking around the AF base I inquired why there is an emergency operations center. Went to the hotel to research actions for volcano eruption. A few days later we were hiking this exact place. Luckily it was a “quiet” trip.

Great they can hire people but this will not replace the institutional knowledge that left. It takes months to complete the hiring and training. Last time I checked severe weather doesn’t sit by while this happens.

There are no words for the ignorance that is allowing this type of thing to occur. There will be real consequences to these cuts that will impact communities across America.

I work with a number of small nonprofits in the disaster response world. Watching the Wisconsin SC results (excited for them) and thinking how much we could have done to help survivors with the $20+ million Elon wasted trying to buy the election.
