I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video. I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children. But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

Protests and demonstrations are not a new phenomenon and were a common part of Victorian and earlier life. Bonfire night, because of its origins was often a focal point for protest with Guy Fawkes seen as a rebel with right on his side. Such was the case in Wakefield 1/2

Don't worry guys, I have a genius plan to stop political violence. Step 1: Make elite consensus be that the mild peaceful disapproval be treated as equivalent to violence. Step 2: Have the government openly violate the law in a manner which proves it nonbinding. Step 3: Crash the economy.

To spell some shit out unambiguously: fascism requires domestic abuse to propagate itself. Demands it. There is no way to humanely teach your children that might makes right. There is no way to gently love a spouse you think is your genetic intellectual inferior. These are inextricably linked.

Fascism is here. We are not “getting closer” or “in danger of.” This matters because it frames our discussion: We aren’t trying to prevent it, we’re trying to defeat it. It’s not taking over our institutions, it’s taken them over. Otherwise, we’re always behind, fighting a past we’ve already lost.
