Heat in the sky in the cool of the day, and a bundle of purple mountains. Views west to the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Skye, and east to the Torridons.

On special days throughout the year, I record all the plants flowering in our habitat. Mindfully, I gather a single flower from each plant that can spare a bloom. Today I gathered 27 different species, resting them together in this celebratory displayâwith love and gratitude.

Despite being a monogamous species, the Eurasian Griffon sometimes attempts extra-pair mating, supporting sperm competition hypothesis. Although mates are unguarded, copulation advances are often rejected by females. Read more about these dynamics at BOW!
