Growing up in Maine, my birthday fell on "winter break" in February. So, I never had school. As an adult, I continue that tradition. I sometimes take a few extra days to really enjoy it. Growing up with 3 siblings in a very poor family, birthdays were YOUR day and therefore, to be savored.

So, after the disappointment of realizing my 589 day submission was a "hold" and not a "sale" as I had initially thought, I got the nicest fan letter this morning for a story I did sell back in 2020. I don't really get those, so it was a pleasant and wonderful surprise and really made my day.
