Freelancer paradox: the only way out of a deep dark hole is to create new stuff and get paid for it. And it’s extraordinarily difficult to focus on creating new stuff from the bottom of a deep dark hole. It doesn’t help knowing so many friends are also in deep dark holes. I’ll get out. Always do.

Welcoming in 2026! Creating comics kept me sane in 2025. It was a blast and a year of huge creative growth, community, and friendships. I’m thankful for it, and for all those supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and joining me on this journey. 2026 is shaping up to be my most ambitious year yet!

So I guy I graduated high school with some years back named @chrisacomics.bsky.social went on to be a pretty big deal in comics and contributed the 6th #Xmen character to my project. Behold Mojo! #100Artists100Xmen

It was a big year on @sktchd.bsky.social, as my subscription comic site has grown dramatically since I went full-time. Also, I genuinely believe I put out some of my best + most varied work. To highlight that, I wanted to share some of my favorite articles from the year as a showcase of that work.

As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative
