I’m badly wishing I could get to StokerCon this year. That’s all.

Listen, things are fucked, but that doesn’t mean your accomplishments don’t matter. Wrote a book? Got accepted to a program? Recorded a song? One year sober? Whatever it is, share it. Maybe your joy will bring someone else a bit of joy, and we all need that.

Today my littlest is 5, and that means school is closing in on us, and our everyday will change. I’m a sobbing fool, but we spent her birthday doing her favorite things, which happen to be spending time with sharks and “Goosebumps snuggles.” I’ll cherish it forever.

Is it still #5amwritersclub if I didn’t get here til 5:45? Asking for the dark circles under my eyes.

So sad for the loss of David Lynch. Sharing some old photos from 2016 when I did a cosplay of Audrey Horne from #TwinPeaks. I’ll always adore that show for the work of art it is.

Whenever I watch Goosebumps with my four-year-old, I pretend she’s a piano during the theme song and tickle her to the tune. She calls it “the Goosebumps tickle.” Lately, it’s all she wants to watch and my fingers are tired.

Traded the mask for makeup for a little while there, but the mask is making a comeback this year. Hopefully.

Got this game “for my son” for Christmas. Totally not for me.

@talkscaredpod.bsky.social I see your “slashers need to take a break” and raise you a “but women haven’t gotten their hands in them nearly enough yet.” I say that as a woman who just wrote a slasher and is just dying to throw her voice in the ring. It’s different, I promise.

@sgj.bsky.social my daughter won’t eat foods with brown spots and when she eats chips she gives me all the curly ones because she won’t eat them. Thanks to your interview on This Is Horror, I’m now hoping the pipeline from curly chip aversion to prolific horror writer is real. 😜

My son tried making a snowman on his own but couldn’t lift the middle part to stack, so he improvised by making his snowman laying down, nose to the sky. And I honestly respect it.

Mood

Various doors of opportunity seem to be cracking open at once for me at the moment. I know all too well they can each slam shut, but for now I will remain hopeful that I’m finally heading in a good direction.
