I’m increasingly starting to believe that software isn’t “done”. Country names change, timezones change, design guidelines and expectations change. Everything changes, so should software. And our job is to make software amenable to change.

Workslop is real and very frustrating. I hate when I feel like coworkers feed my code review comments into AI to fix the issues. I hate when discussing architecture it feels like coworkers make AI generate rebuttals or parrot its “opinions”. If I wanted to talk to AI, I would.

This week gave us two instances of AI powered fiascos: one from ArsTechnica with hallucinated quotes and one from Microsoft with a slop diagram. Not conclusive evidence but this shows that AI is not a force multiplier but a constant source of embarrassment. And the solution is genuine human care.
