A4. I think more depth when same task, yes. Since I got into same task I have never returned to groups having different tasks. Maybe it depends on the intended learning outcome which we should choose? #LTHEchat

A2. It can be positive to respond positively to student teams too, especially if some of the students in the team got answers wrong when they attempted themselves #LTHEchat

#lthechat A5 @philrace.bsky.social and I do our morning exercises ( me on the floor doing yoga and him on the exercise bike) listening to informative podcasts from BBC radio 4 and learn so much. If I was teaching modern politics, literature or linguistics I would refer to them constantly

A5 - my parents used to play the radio when we were kids and I think I liked the familiarity of it. I wonder if there is a place for regular CPD via radio for HE in like a radio 4 style? I think the value could bring more communities together! #LTHEchat

I recall talking to one of my students pre start of class that I''d listened to this interesting R4 programme about tech. He looked at me quizzically and asked "So you actually own a radio?" #LTHEchat

We also did a presentation to the rules of Just a Minute once with animal sounding buzzers for the 4 of us. #LTHEchat

That would be wonderful!! And perhaps some with some instruments in - including yogurt pots and watercooler drums - where people could make some music together? #LTHEchat

#LTHEchat A4 Music as background would not work - but - we asked a colleague to run a low stakes music and 'composition' session for our UG students - with crazy instruments - for fun, blonding and belonging - and reflecting back that they could construct meaning together. It was Ace!

A5 #LTHEchat not sure. Is it really different to podcasting? I only listen to Six music and The archers, so… maybe we should have a HE soap opera… an everyday tale of academic folk.

A4 #LTHEchat I love music and always have it on but coming from a hearing impaired family I am always really careful about using anything that can't be transcribed in teaching. Hearing aids will pick up every sound equally so speech and music at the same time can be particularly problematic.

A5. Hmm, an interesting one. Does radio feel a little dated in this world of podcasts (which are a great way of sharing practice)? otoh what a challenge to run a CPD session in the style of 'I'm sorry, I haven't a clue'!! (damn, I'm going to have to try that now) #LTHEchat

Part of the reason I dislike podcasts so much is the annoying music #LTHEChat

A4 - it would be great to have a couple of music rooms at conferences where you could just go and reflect in between sessions or at lunch. I love conferences but I do often feel like I’ve got lots in my head afterwards. This could be a good way for some to ground themselves (me included) #LTHEchat

A4 Lots of potential for ice-breakers as music is largely universal, but isn't quite universally inclusive. Music can be made more inclusive (vibrations, colours etc.) but would need preparation. #LTHEchat

A4 I really ike it when you join an event and music is playing to fill the silence as people join. It can be a nice intro to a podcast but also really irritate me but i can mute if needed so it's not a problem! #LTHEchat

A3 #LTHEchat I cannot remember where I saw it, but a recording of urban sounds (bird song, chatter, like bikes ticking) was used as a nice introductory piece to a class

#lthechat A3 at Leeds Beckett. I had a standing colleague working with a difficult group who used to walk in to sessions with music and disco lights and sing the learning outcomes for the session to a track by Barry White

A3 Pre Shazam one of colleagues who gave a very large group lecture started it each week with a guess that tune with a prize. The students loved it #LTHEchat

But being different and not being authentic are totally different things. Most of us have different facets of our personalities. #LTHEChat

For some work I need to be extremely boundaried, particularly around advice giving and that's clearly explained, even if it's hard to do. For other work, not so much. Sometimes you don't plan on revealing much and yet you do. Even the things you don't say or do can tell a lot about you. A2 #LTHEchat
