I have a new story up on Granta, THE GHOST COAT. I wrote it because I found a such a coat in my home years ago, but also because I once had an argument with several French directors about the perfection of the film Titane, and how stupid they were to misunderstand it.

Thereâs a type of person who reads a memoir (or even a novel!) with the intention of declaring whether the author is good or bad, right or wrong, as if all writing is advertisement for oneâs moral purity and upright behavior. What a soulless and turgid little way to pass your life.
