Last Stop (Winooski, VT) Tonight
A quick and friendly reminder to anyone in VT that I'm DJing Last Stop Sports Bar in Winooski tonight! I'm going to bring as many 12" records as I can. Think of it as a challenge to myself. Tonight's a bittersweet occasion, since Amanda (aka Payne and Treasure) is working her final shift there tonight. Here's a graphic she made for the night, with some more details: Thanks for checking in. See you all Friday with some Milkmen material.

On May 14th, I returned to Standing Stone Wines - an absolute treasure of a place on the Winooski circle - to revive my specialized Sonic Geography night "Through Being Cool," named for the Saves the Day title track which I absolutely did play, but didn't take a photo of the record. Despite a fairly steady downpour for most of the night (or perhaps…

New legislation pitches: - No (new) 7-inch record shall ever cost more than $10. - If your site advertises "all-in pricing," and the customer is then asked for a single cent more (for anything) before the tickets are theirs, you must reimburse them for the amount because YOUR PRICING IS NOT ALL-IN.

Was KICx good enough to elicit such a terrible, click-bait, poorly punctuated, Midwest-Emo title? I would go so far as to say yes. This was the third year of the Kingston Indie Comics Expo, co-founded by a trio of local entrepreneurs including, perhaps most relevant to this site, the geographer Cristopher Livecchi. He was teaching online courses in the region during COVID when he decided to seize the opportunity to…

Postcards from Irving 13 Companion Piece: Montreal, 1944 (Film)
Happy Tuesday! In addition to numerous mid-week tasks on campus, I'm in the middle of a celebratory post about the Kingston Independent Comic Expo, along with the first (of many) posts about the making of the upcoming Dead Milkmen book. In the meantime: the algorithm blessed me with this magnificent 1944 film showing life in pre-'Quiet Revolution' Montreal. Think of it as a great companion piece to…

‘Stonehenge Decoded’ Re-Coded
Sometime in 2012 or early 2013 - I can't remember exactly when, and I'm having trouble finding concrete proof of when/where it was (which is part of the point of today's post) - I was somewhere in the northeast periphery of Los Angeles with Keith Carey and (possibly) Nick Petrillo. I have clear-enough recollections of Keith commenting on the free book I picked up in the nearby concourse of the mall-style building where we were about to perform in a comedy show.
