Should be a fun day to be a bus rider around JSQ. The 6, 83, 88, and 84 (they forgot the 16) are gonna have to navigate around JSW because of construction on Summit.

I had to stop traffic on Central and Newark because drivers coming from Newark to Central weren’t letting an older gentleman cross the street safely, who had the walk sign.

Driver double parked on Jersey Ave a couple car lengths from the intersection. The bus couldn’t pass it. Finally when the bus driver had an opportunity to pass the car, a driver on the opposing side of the street sped up to try to beat him, but the bus driver had already made his move.

#JCcrashes Two car crash this morning at Brunswick and Columbus. No verified details on what happened here but drivers often gun and run the light going down Brunswick, which may have contributed to sudden braking on the Columbus side. This half of Columbus is also awaiting a full redesign.

Per census data fewer people live in Bayonne today than 100 years ago. When people say there's no room for housing, what they actually mean, is: there's no room for all the cars. Hudson County was more populated and had amazing bus and rail service. The car industry has eaten up our land.

SUVs and pickup trucks are high risk to pedestrians and cyclists. Children are 8X more likely to be killed when struck by an SUV or truck than by a passenger vehicle. But Jersey City does not currently have any policies to discourage larger vehicles.

Bike ride through Jersey City turned harrowing. Light turns green, I go straight in left side protected lane. Pickup truck driver sees me, then turns left; I brake hard, wheel goes up, near miss by inches. No amount of infrastructure can help drivers who can’t see over windshield. Ban light trucks.
