#JCcrashes Hearing of a crash involving the 119 bus at Congress and Cambridge. NJT supervisor and police were on scene. Congress is a critical bus corridor but navigating the congestion and illegally parked cars is very difficult.

I’m begging a mainstream publication to pick this story up? A million people ride buses and trains in LA every day and right now they really have no idea when those buses or trains are coming!

Media & police commonly report that “speed wasn’t a factor in a crash.” What they mean is the driver wasn’t technically breaking the speed limit, or at least not too much. But speed is ALWAYS a factor, in how much distance is needed to stop, how well crash victims can be seen, and whether they die.

Was on the 83 and we were stuck in traffic for 10 minutes to go one block on Summit because of a larger Amazon truck that partially blocking the northbound lane at Central. This stuff keeps happening, and it’s getting worse. Hopefully we will start seeing some enforcement.

Bus stop on Newark Ave still completely snowed in 3 days after storm, just as it was for two weeks after the last blizzard. Even worse this time: no foot path. Nothing was learned by city government.

Stuff like this is what delays the 80 and 84 buses. A fedex truck partially blocking Newark Ave at quarter to 5 in the evening.

A few days ago I saw people getting off the 87 at Ferry & Central and there was a pile of snow and ice right as you exit the bus. Passengers, including an older woman, struggled to maneuver through the snow. This is one of the busiest stops in the city.

But ~10 people were able to clean 0.5 miles of a single PBL in 4 hours. It would be nice if @jerseycitynj.bsky.social had the state capacity to do this themselves instead of relying on a bunch of volunteers with bad backs and hand tools.

11 days after the storm, this bus bump out in a city right-of-way is mostly snow covered. There is a narrow path to the bus, with a giant slush puddle that most people aren't nimble enough to leap over. It shouldn't take volunteers to shovel this out.

Add Pavonia between JFK and Summit. Ridershare drivers and delivery vans block on Pavonia, sometimes during rush hour that really delays buses trying to exit and enter JSQ, including the 80 and 87. Our two busiest buses.

Why did three buses and several delivery trucks get stuck trying to turn at Jersey & Columbus this morning? Lack of illegal parking enforcement is not only making our crosswalks dangerous, but also slowing down our transportation system. /

15 school zone camera violations. Why is the person allowed to drive? This is a NJ driver.

Missing crosswalks: Many bus riders directly enter/exit the JSQ bus station on Sip Avenue to get to Hudson County Community College & other destinations. But as with many intersections in Jersey City, one of the crosswalks is missing, forcing pedestrians to navigate around parked cars or cross twice

This is ridiculous. Also, keep in mind the policing. And the over-policing of people of color that use e-bikes.

500 dollar fine for defrauding the state, and NJ Democrats couldn’t even bother to raise that fine to $750. With all of the hit and run crashes in the state, one of these drivers could evade prosecution if they kill or severely injure someone if their license plate is obstructed.

It’s weirdly, deceptively slippery out right now in Jersey City, not the solid ice but the thin, transparent film of slush. It’s like … more slippery in places where it’s usually less slippery and vice versa.

Hope we see some change, because stuff like this is unacceptable.

Please call and text and request Murphy veto the ebike bill if you live in New Jersey. My Mom rode a Class 1 ebike until a few months before her death at 87. It was the only way she could go grocery shopping. And lots of her friends used them to get around as well. They were life rafts for them.
