I have become my parents. At A$5 including post I couldn’t resist. I feel a little guilty because I think the seller probably lost money on this one.

Started watching Uncut Gems, immediately intrigued by the music during the opening scene. Turns out Daniel Lopatin aka Oneohtrix Point Never scored the film!

Todays haul. Reliving my youth. Like millions of other awkward teenagers The Violent Femmes were my favourite group. By art school it was The Pixies. Never owned Doolittle though, it was always just in the air. Not a U2 fan, but have a soft spot for War and got it for A$5.

Worked on something a bit different recently: my first sound design commission. I designed bespoke synth patches that will be used in the score for a forthcoming MMO video game. The score will combine orchestral and synth sounds, so I'm excited to hear how it turns out.

An Australian perspective on boycotting Spotify. I doubt it will matter to anyone, but I’m going to pull my handful of tracks off Spotify. Putting my money where my mouth is, and all that.

The gentleman in the hospital bed next to mine seems to have done a runner. He was admitted night after suffering a stroke, and there was some confusion about the name on his hospital record not matching his actual name. This morning he took a phone call and left the building. Most mysterious.

It surprises me how often I am asked what post processing has been done to Oblivion Sound Lab‘s patch showcase demos, and what external effects were used. The answer is always none.

One perk of being laid up for a few days is that I can catch up on some reading. Very much enjoying visiting Discworld again. Sir Pratchett certainly had a way with words.

My bank has implemented 2 factor authentication that requires me to open their app on my phone in order to access the bank's website from my laptop. Might as well just use the phone app in the first place, if I have to open it anyway 🤷♂️

Although I pay for a Creative Cloud subscription, I have a deep seated resentment of Adobe, so I'm always trying to wean myself off their products. Currently installing DaVinci Resolve to try instead of after effects for a simple motion graphic task. 🤞

This arrived in the post today. I've never actually owned any of The Smiths' albums, despite listening to them loads. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I can pick up second hand CDs for about the same price that I was paying 20 years ago. This one was A$11 shipped from the UK.

Sci-Fi Fantasy is easily the coolest name for a skateboard brand ever. The new video is my lunchtime viewing today. How blessed are we? Back in the day had to wait months for new VHS to ship from the US so we could rent them from our local skate shop and dub them.

Oh yeah, here's a blast from the past! Another album that I forgot that I own on CD: Crydamoure presents Waves. An incredible selection of French filter house mixed by Le Knight Club (Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Eric Chédeville) on their own Crydamoure label. Nonstop bangers.

Today's CD from the archive: Sonic Youth - Dirty. Daydream Nation will always be my favourite Sonic Youth album, but Dirty is still fantastic, even if it was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of grunge. The kitsch cover photo is by Mike Kelley, which appealed to art school me in 1992.
