A few years ago, I pitched a handbook for a commercial publisher and it was ultimately rejected. The publisher has now just released the handbook, authored by other colleagues (who I'm pretty sure weren't aware that the publisher simply took my idea and moved forward). What a bitter taste this left.

This week, I taught Hempel's d-n model in my philosophy of history course. And each time I come back to that text, I think I become more sympathetic to his point. I'm not sure which of my assumptions is shaken, but the model seems much more attractive now than when I first read about it years ago.
