This museography resists the colonial and racial ideology developed by a Europe that saw itself as a model of civilisation from the modern era onwards.

Sauzaret points out, however, that the absence of objects in no way signifies a lack or underdevelopment. It is an alternative narrative, a different kind of museography.

Conceived on La Réunion island, this new type of museum is a museum without objects that is supposed to decolonise the Western museum through a programme of absolute disorder.

Selon Avelar, cette façon d'envisager le phénomène négationniste pourrait amener les historiens à une plus grande auto-réflexion et produire des récits du passé mieux guidés à la fois en termes théoriques et épistémologiques.

Selon Avelar, ces réflexions pourraient aider les historiens à éviter de rejeter les positions négationnistes comme de la « mauvaise foi ou de la désinformation » en saisissant le problème central que les sophismes négationnistes posent pour eux : le « mode de croyance dans le réel » de l'historien.

Il propose de le faire à travers les réflexions de Jacques Rancière sur le négationnisme.

Face à la montée des usages négationnistes du passé et de ses falsifications ces dernières années, il affirme qu'il est nécessaire d'approcher les positions négationnistes sous un angle différent de celui généralement utilisé.
