I fear KC is going to see displacement on a massive scale come World Cup as resident leases are not renewed in order to make way for short term profits.

For all the bitching & moaning about road diets & bike lanes, something I never hear is drivers complaining about on street parking taking away traffic lanes. Case in point, Meyer Blvd is 4 kane but effectively 2 lanes due to all the parking. Also everyone here has massive driveways, why park here?

Rode the new Broadway Blvd configuration today and wow it's not even finished and already a noticeable difference in feeling of improved safety and flow. The new angled parking gave me room to ride without traffic pressure while the two way cycle track is being finished on the other side! 🚲👍

I'm a really slow rider and there are absolutely places in KC where I have to switch to sidewalks because people in cars will behave in very, very unsafe ways around me. there's no winning when there are no cycling lanes: i'm either slowing down traffic or i'm scaring pedestrians.

A cyclist on a sidewalk is usually a symptom of bad infrastructure. As I often say, cyclist vs. pedestrian conflicts arise because both are fighting over the scraps of space not occupied by cars. But what if we took that space from cars to make biking, walking, and rolling safer?

Hearing comments like this at the CPC parking hearing "Debating whether to leave your house during the evening to go get dinner for fear of not finding parking when you return", makes me so sad that we have built such a car centric city that someone's life hinges around finding parking.

This is elitist mentality that somehow bicycle users, people who "walk", or public tranist users etc are only entitled to a routes & space proportional to their numbers, but users of cars are granted unlimited space for roads, & parking lots. The needs of non car users are equal to car users!

Grassroots activist and local bus riders installing benches because RideKC Transit keep removing them at the request of the KCPD while rides have no where to sit when they wait for their hourly bus. The fast majority of our buses run only once an hour leaving long gaps in service.

I will never understand KCMO Public Works. It seems like PW, the City, advocates & neighborhoods are all actively working on traffic calming south of the river, but up north we are building 4 lane roads in corn fiends, building roundabouts with slip lanes and putting painted bike lanes on 40+ roads.
