This is by and large why I stopped engaging with fandoms as a whole over the past...decade or so. Sadly, fandoms tend to be toxic. They're full of toxic people who won't call each other out, and act like you're the bad one for going "hey actually maybe don't?".

its really neat - if you just ignore that people who bother or offend you even exist, suddenly they do not exist! If you engage in petty drama with someone/give attention to something you hate longer than a day, and let these continue to exist in your mind, that is a choice you have made

fandom can be such a vacuum that we forget that we don't actually have to put up with anything, like at all. you can mute ships, you can block people, disengage from toxic circles. you don't have to explain yourself to strangers. fandom doesn't represent the source. do whatever to remember that.
