So this weekend we’ve been taking Gus to his first ever scent trial. We qualified for 3/4 of our searches (exterior, vehicle and containers A). He now have fancy certificates and is the first step towards some neat working dog letters after his formal name.

Yesterday we met up with a new friend and their dog from the next town over. Today after work I met with a local who trains dogs to practice new tricks and we laughed about the antics Gus got up to. Tomorrow I’m baking for my closest neighbours Community is right there.

PSA: if you’re somebody who runs air purifiers in your house all the time and you ever smell gas in your house even a little bit intermittently, get your house checked for gas leaks. They can apparently go otherwise unnoticed for a really long time if your HEPA filters are good enough 😳

If you’re like me and Winter Olympics snuck up on you (because it’s a stinking humid summer), it’s started and the curling mixed doubles is on and it’s excellent.

Incase you don’t know, Westminster dog show is on this week. Earlier today (Saturday US) they had all the preliminaries. On Monday and Tuesday the proper competitions will start. It’s all live streamed on YouTube and I HIGHLY recommend watching the dog agility. It’s impressive and super fun.

I wrote an internal update post at work today and it was good and it was me and it got praise from so many people. I like to write.

One of those Auckland “summer” days. Bernard has chosen to try steal as much heat as possible.

At an airport gate once, age 17, I had to phone a friend and tell them about a mutual friends death. A woman came up to me afterwards and said "no one your age should have to do that. I'm going to make sure the flight attendants look after you. Do you want a hug first?"

I was driving past ikea right on opening on Saturday so I popped in. Grabbed a fry pan that was recommended (Hemkomst) and hot damn friends. Used it the last two nights and it’s an absolute dream. So non stick. Such a good weight. Soon as the other two sizes are back in stock I’m grabbing the set.

Oh my gosh this would be such a win for everyone. People need downtime. It even makes them better workers.
