Remember that not all art advice is GOOD art advice and stressing yourself out because you think you shouldn't use reference only makes things worse. Many extremely skilled artists use reference. Just use it.

In regards to last repost: If any artist tells you that using reference is cheating/isn't truly learning and you have to struggle with getting a pose just right without it? They're an idiot.

1. I wish people don't dismiss four-panel, newspaper style strips as "lesser". The medium is just as valid as graphic novels. 2. I hate the mentality that comics must be printed in color in order to sell. Like, you guys do know that most mangas are printed in B&W and they sell like hotcakes, right?

1. You don't have to draw like a professional Marvel/DC Comics artist. 2. Stuff like Funny Animal comics and comics with Saturday morning camp need to make a major comeback. 3. Let comics be goofy and stupid again. 4. Comics should go back to having simpler art styles.

As someone who was around when people would bully you for shipping things that "aren't canon/will never be canon" and yadayada. It's really not that big of a deal lmao, your hcs will continue to exist and be just as real as you want them to be.

There's the unhealthy way of engaging with nostalgia (watching AI-generated TikTok slop based around wanting it to be 1988 again) and the healthy way (having Saturday morning cartoon compilations on YouTube while you do work around the house).

please please be more passionate about what you like and create. i cannot count how many times i have seen people reflect on old art they made or interests they had and call it "cringe" so they can make fun of themselves and hope that instead of being laughed at, they can laugh with everyone.
