We've become numb to this stuff, but a president accusing a journalist of treason -- a capital crime -- for reporting on an ongoing war is not normal, and we should never accept it as normal.

You know, a President accusing a NYT reporter of committing treason just for asking a question is actually quite a big deal, and this bunch just standing there listening to it and doing nothing is not encouraging the public to think of journalism as a serious business or of words meaning anything.

The Planetary Society led a coalition letter with 23 organizational signatories calling for the rejection of draconian cuts to NASA and science in FY 2027 proposed by the White House. Coverage here, letter PDF in comments. www.nbcnews.com/science/spac...

To put that into perspective, that's almost $1 billion over one Fiscal Year NASA Budget. So this conflict has cost us more in 2 months than NASA costs us in a single year. Next time you hear we can't afford a space program, keep that in mind.

What a fantastic Day of Action! 130 Planetary Society members came from 34 states and held over 200 meetings in Congress to #SaveNASAScience from the draconian cuts proposed in FY 2027. Between the two of us, Bill Nye and I did 13 TV interviews, from 6am to 6pm, local to national stations.

The proposed NASA budget is lazy, unpopular, and destructive. They literally copy-pasted the one from last year and even forgot to update the year in places. We convinced Congress to push back last year (see me in the back?). We'll do it again this year to #saveNASAscience.

I'll be on Capitol Hill next week to tell Congress to fully fund NASA Science. We just watched the Artemis II mission with awe and excitement. I want more of that, and statistically so do you. However, that mission would not have been possible without all the basic science to support it.

Been thinking about this a lot. Surely at some point there’s no reason to buy more NVIDIA GPUs? Even if you somehow believe AI will be so big and so huge, where are you going to put them? A Foxconn warehouse for 2 years? Shit isn’t getting built!

Worth spending a moment to think about what else all these billions could have been spent on. And worth remembering this example the next time someone tells you a technology is inevitable.
