You know it is the week before the beginning of the term when you start getting emails from administrators you have never heard of before with yet another mandatory thing you have to do with no release of anything to make it possible to do it. Time to retire.

The debate over a science only education is not new. It has been going on for a long time. This is the thought of one of the premier scientists of his time. I found this version free of a paywall.

As HHS Secretary Kennedy's speculations on autism take center stage, my column (still valid today) on likely causes: Autism spectrum disorder is determined before birth by combinations of factors, mostly genetic. Recognized more today, so more commonly reported.

#Science
is a team sport - when under attack we urgently need to look out for each other, retain collegial networks and collaborations, and protect students and support staff. Merely finding new opportunities for the ābig namesā will not do.

Itās Earth Day, and some of us have spent not just our careers but our whole lives loving + studying the Earth. It is not an easy time. But I hope you take a moment today to look at something beautiful, eat something delicious, squish someone you love, pet a dog, remember the nice parts. Yay Earth.

This is cool. The Guardian recreated a searchable climate future risk tool (wildfire, extreme heat, drought, hurricane, and coastal flood) for the US that was developed by FEMA but deleted by the Trump administrationās āclimateā purge.

There are very few things in this world I know for sure anymore. When I started teaching in January, the textbook I always use for my class was $160 on Amazon. Used was over $100. I have always felt that this book was ā the Bibleā and every geophysicist should have a copy.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people seem to reply to all on things that very clearly donāt need to go to all. Doesnāt it require some extra effort to reply to all?
