💯 this! #Science is a team sport - when under attack we urgently need to look out for each other, retain collegial networks and collaborations, and protect students and support staff. Merely finding new opportunities for the ‘big names’ will not do.

It’s Earth Day, and some of us have spent not just our careers but our whole lives loving + studying the Earth. It is not an easy time. But I hope you take a moment today to look at something beautiful, eat something delicious, squish someone you love, pet a dog, remember the nice parts. Yay Earth.

There are very few things in this world I know for sure anymore. When I started teaching in January, the textbook I always use for my class was $160 on Amazon. Used was over $100. I have always felt that this book was “ the Bible” and every geophysicist should have a copy.

Woke up after a crappy night sleep. Decided what I needed was a cappuccino. Made myself a nice cup. Sat down. The milk was spoiled. How’s your day going?

It never ceases to amaze me how many people seem to reply to all on things that very clearly don’t need to go to all. Doesn’t it require some extra effort to reply to all?

My university is in the process of moving everyone’s email from google to Microsoft. They started with students this week. After months of being told that “they’ve got this” we got an email that some students are having issues and faculty should not rely on email to communicate with students.
