The term āLynchianā is embarrassingly overused, but more than halfway through this, the surrealism often reminds me of the experience of watching Inland Empire - the narrative collapsing on itself just when you think itās going to take hold. Written in 1980.

Itās about what I expected. Watchable airport junk. I mostly was more entertained by the audience; the husbands who suddenly perked up whenever Sydney whipped her tits out and the teenage girls who filmed every sex scene and excitedly tiktoked in the parking lot to the end credits song.

In the āno shit Sherlockā side of things, I imagine she didnāt even see that guy standing in front of her carā¦probably looking at the dumbfuck at her window as she tried to pull away. Obviously we have a duty of care when we drive, but who couldnāt understand her panic?

Because Michael Moorcock was right (I love The Lord of the Rings to the point where Iād get sworn in on it maybe, but Tolkien was the kind of conservative catholic that got pissed that the sermons werenāt in Latin anymore)

Iām sure itāll zag in a worthwhile way, but I hate that the rumor mill seems to be pointing to The Batman Part 2 doing The Long Halloween in some form. Beyond that I think that comic sucks balls, Nolan already covered the only worthwhile part that ground.

David Robert Mitchell, despite having the most forgettable name on earth (three first names what the fuck?), put out two bangers in a row and is just now finally releasing a new one this year. Canāt wait.

Concluded the first season of Dark in our rewatch, and while I think it remains a fun twisty watch, thereās a part of me now that asks: āyou canāt expect me to believe all these folks still live in this city, do you?ā and āWouldnāt some kind of bigger authority get involved in these murders?ā

The second Viriconium book, A Storm of Wings, basically uses āwhat if the ghost guys from Return of the King actually came back to life and just lived among the rest of Middle Earth?ā and plays with how that would fuck everyone up.

Hey people! My son's science fair project is about how people visualize things when they read. It's very short and he'd appreciate it if you could fill it out, and share for more responses! (info: 'print books' also includes ebooks) Thank you! āŗļø

This Mad Men rewatch reminds me: I used to work with an awesome lady whose daughter was on the writing staff. I never pressed for goss or anything, but she did tell me that apparently the nicest people on set were Christina Hendricks and John Slattery. Not a shocker but I like remembering it.

Said this off and on all year but itās remarkable given how long weāve lived in an era of āsynergyā just how much DCās year has been a rare display of a company making almost nothing but right moves to maximize the success of a big multimedia push.
