Was looking back at a CRM report and remembered photos from an onsite visit. Beautiful stratigraphy representing Early Archaic through late Prehistoric/Precontact. Unit width is 2 meters, so that gives an idea of depth. Matrix was a compact silty sand, which made excavation a joy. #archaeology

Appropriate day to post this. Visited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum earlier this year. Quite a bit of information on the Edmund Fitzgerald, and shipwrecks on the lakes in general.
