I just voted for Tom Steyer for Governor! I'm so glad that California has the chance to elect a climate champion.

My assemblymember posted an AI image of Becerra with a stethoscope for a person with three ears. I made fun of it and now she's in my DMs telling my that I'm being culturally insensitive because AI art of people with three ears is how her gente express support for people who look like them.

My unique $100k R&D ocean floor gravimeter was lost at sea through unfortunate events. No funds for ship time for recovery so my PhD supervisor mortgaged his house & sent me. No pressure. I was in the lab with the ROV team when it showed up on sonar. Cheering erupted over the radio from the bridge.

I live in Swalwell’s neck of the woods and have a lot of political friends who know him personally, and I was dreading how some of them would react. Surprisingly, only one of them is holding on to Swalwell for dear life.

A reminder of the future schedule: Artemis III will carry the goat to lunar orbit, and return empty Artemis IV will carry the lettuce to lunar orbit, and return with the goat Artemis V will carry the wolf to lunar orbit, and return empty Artemis VI will carry the goat to lunar orbit, and land

The people saying she made this up can go to hell. There's contemporary evidence backing up her claims. This should be the end of Swalwell's career.

This is a cool effort by a school system to leverage publicly owned land to create thousands of housing units, affordable to teachers. School districts own huge amounts of well-located, underutilized land that they could use for such housing projects. But few districts are actually doing so.

I don't want to sound too excitable, but right now, ACTUAL PEOPLE are going round the ACTUAL MOON - for the first time in my own lifetime. This is not a story, and this is not a drill. We are all here, looking up together as this happens. 🫵 🤝🫶

The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me. It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."

When I hear men worshipping guns and talking about how there’s nothing that will stop them from defending their family, my mind goes to Naaman in the Bible. Do you remember Naaman? He was a great military leader, and he also had leprosy. 1/

Personally, I'm pretty amused by WB desperately trying to wring a movie out of any stray comma in LOTR, while just out of reach lie the rich treasures of The Silmarillion, which they can never touch as cosmic punishment for pulling the Hollywood accounting trick on the Tolkien estate 25 years ago.

Dolores Huerta Day is already a state holiday in California. I'm reaching out to my state legislatures to ask them to elevate it to fully replace that man's holiday. My son should get the day off from school to celebrate a leader and a survivor, not because it's a rapist's birthday.

New research from Pew quantifies the extent of the success of YIMBYism in Austin: after a huge run up in prices over the 2010s, the city dramatically liberalized and kicked off a building boom. Now rents are falling.
