One Battle After Another had some incredible performances from Leo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Benecio del Toro, and Sean Penn. But, imo, it'll struggle to go toe to toe against Sinners for something like Best Picture.

condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.

Now that Apple has proven you can put most of a phone's computing into a camera bump, hopefully we can go back to regular sized phones with 3.5mm jacks and replaceable batteries.

Interesting to see "Demand for [declining commodity] has never been better" articles, by "think tanks" from said commodity's industry, on Sri Lankan papers.

"AI-powered" realistic photo and video creation seems to be less about "empowering content creation" and more about (either deliberately or inadvertently) supercharging misinformation campaigns and soiling the internet.

any mass media platform where center-right, pro-business politics isn't the dominant paradigm is inevitably going to be maligned in this way by wealthy and powerful people trying to dictate the contours of acceptable discourse they've been playing this game (quite successfully) for a generation

Not sure what the success rate of "urging" and "pleading" by international bodies is, when it comes to non-white folk being involved. But hoping folks realise 400 nuclear warheads between these two make it *slightly important* that they don't escalate.

Let's be honest, it's not ragging, it's abuse borderlining on torture. And every year, we hear horrific stories of students being abused in a system that seems to be untouchable.

They were already doing this for some of their courses last year. The Irish course is completely ruined, the real human voices have been replaced with AI ones which have their pronunciation all over the place, and in many cases make up sounds that don’t exist in any Irish dialect. It’s awful.
