I ran a really fun TTRPG campaign in Roll20 today; for my Digimon Cyberpunk game, the party got sucked into an arcade cabinet, and had to run a gauntlet of combat/dungeon encounters inspired by retro games with retro graphics put on by a clown Digimon. It. was. a. blast!

Just gonna say that @frostymog.bsky.social @mogtalk.bsky.social made a huge mistake deciding to settle for VODs for the FFXIV UMAD world race, rather than requiring they stream live. I see that this was decided before the event began, but it's undermined what has otherwise a good world-first race.

While the games have only recently fully realized this potential, Digimon are a much more interesting concept for video games than Pokemon, both in terms of story potential and in terms of game mechanics (DNA digivolution, digimon/tamer relationship dynamics, two layers of type mechanics, etc.)

As has always been the case, Piracy for games and music has *always* been an issue around availability and respecting the customer. If platform holders are reasonable then people will pay for content happily, Netflix used to be that but then they decided to turn into the very thing they replaced.

I want to say again: anytime the commencement speaker becomes the focus of the story, instead of the graduates, it’s a colossal fuck up from university leaders.
