Update on the PayPal situation: Two of three cases were decided in my favor. One was not, but it's ok. I think what happened is the one that wasn't in my favor was someone else who got scammed, and my account has refunded money that isn't mine, so I'm ok if this other guy gets it with his chargeback

I had to livestream GOP political debates for work (boo!) However, I've met and respect some of these people anyway. However, when a mayoral candidate says live on the air that he wants to preserve 'white heritage' in a town that calls itself "Home of 56 Nationalities"? That's REEAL bad.

It's a little annoying when you live in a small town, and there IS geek culture, but it's not YOUR geek culture, so you feel like you don't have anyone to share interests with, and you know, make friends? As far as I can tell, if you don't like CCGs or tablet games here, you're fucked, geek-wise.

A YouTuber, who I won't name, whose writing I really admire, and who has a lot of the same interests as me, used a generative AI backdrop of a comic store for the background. This person has called out AI in the past, so it could be a mistake, but it was incredibly jarring to see.

I thought you all might like to see my other pixelated comic covers from way back when. Of course, if I did them now, I'd do a lot differently. I stole the Superman logo from the NES game, and I'd totally use a different font for Spidey's dialog and completely redraw Hulk, I still dig 'em, though.

I had an idea to make a comic book cover generator, where you could pick your series, characters, and era, then you could add your own dialogue or caption boxes, but it'd take a lot of art assets to work, and I was advised that it would likely get legal eyes on me for using copyrighted characters.

I love this logo. Waaaaay Back in the day, I made a faux 8-bit version, and a vecotrized version of a slightly updated version, but @starfleetdesign.bsky.social's take is much better/more accurate tot the source.

I got reminded of a project I started, but never finished. I wanted to make fridge magnets of every Amazing Spider-Man corner box. I only ever made Ditko's headshot and Romita's take on the same. Maybe I should revive the project.

I really wish prices would get better for tech stuff. I wanted to order another 5TB drive. When I bought this exact model in 2022, it was $100. If I wanted to get the exact same HDD now, it'd be $196. I sure don't make double the money I did in 2022, so I won't pay double the price...

I added DS9 to my media server, and I think I need to change the default images that were scraped, because damn, are Quark's eyes and nose messed up. There are other inaccuracies, such as Odo's uniform not matching the timeline of the other characters. Time to look for a better one.

PayPal updated me on the fraudulent activity on my account, but it is not looking good. They let the chargeback happen, AND charged me a dispute fee on top of that, so now my PayPal has a negative balance that I'm supposed to pay, and they'll "let me know" if the scammer's bank decides in my favor.

Every summer, we have a parade locally for Flaming Gorge Days. I had to cover it today, which was fine, but one float got the constitution VERY wrong, and it hurts a bit. I feel like a lot of wrong-headed people would think it's correct, though. The word you're looking for is WELFARE, not WARFARE!

Having a 3d printer sure comes in handy sometimes. Our intern didn't return the lens cap to our camera, but I was able to print out a perfect replacement. Cool beans.

It's really odd to see Nightwing in the trailer for Batman: Knightfall. I wonder if they're going to change the story to explain why Bruce doesn't pick Dick to take up the mantle. In the 90's, the real reason was that Dick/Nightwing was "owned" by the Titans editorial team and was prioritized there.

Today, for my real life job, I covered the open house our local landfill had. It was cool, like an adult field trip, but the coolest part was these vintage McDonaldLand playground pieces, they've had them for years. (The manager told me someone stole their Hamburglar though). The demo for Star Trek: Warp digital deckbuilder is... rough. The tutorial gives you the absolute basics. When you try an actual match, the CPU kicks your ass because it already knows everything. The art style is weird. It's like someone painted over photos of actors; it's ugly. Also... It's no fun.
