🚨Endorsement: Educators trust @zconine.bsky.social because he has always defended Nevada’s public schools and the people who make them work. He has been a good steward of public dollars and understands that protecting those dollars is essential to protecting public education.

Retroactive registration cannot fulfill the Legislature’s clear intent: that disclosures occur in real time, so the public can evaluate lobbying influences as they occur, not days, weeks, or months (or in Jeremy Aguero's case, years) after decisions have been made.

After-the-fact compliance does not cure the original violation. The Act requires registration prior to engaging in lobbying, so legislators and the public have transparency at the time influence is being exerted. #NVLeg

Today, we again urged the LCB to follow the law: suspected violations must be reported to both the Attorney General and Legislative Commission. We’re requesting confirmation of when those reports were made to both entities and when the Commission will take it up. #NVLeg

While $12M per year for Pre-K is great, this is not new revenue. It is a mechanism to capture funds that otherwise would accrue to the County. NSEA supports Pre-K and if you want more Pre-K funding, just provide it directly. You don't need a corporate giveaway.

Lombardo signed a budget increasing education funding by only $2 per student, a de facto education cut, he’s now called a Special Session to giveaway $1.65B in public money to Hollywood Executives. If Hollywood is the emergency, then Nevada’s leaders have lost the plot.

After the #NVLeg passed a $2 per pupil increase, NSEA locals negotiated contracts across the state. Most locals asked for modest increases to help keep pace with the cost of living (up over 3%). Districts responded there was no way for them to offer COLAs with no increases from the state.

The Nevada Division of Social Services on Wednesday delivered approximately $29 million in food assistance benefits to the EBT cards of over 196,000 households.

"The economic advantages of the legislation have been questioned. An independent analysis commissioned by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development determined that the tax credits would stimulate the state economy, but not enough to offset the massive expansion of the film tax credit program."
