PSA... Autism isn't a choice. If someone's autism causes them to do things that annoy you, it's not because they *want* to annoy you or don't care that they are (if they're even aware of it in the first place). It's because they have a literal disability.

If you want the behaviors to decrease, you need to first figure out what's CAUSING the behavior and address THAT. #autismawareness #internalizedautism

Meltdowns, shutdowns, irritability, outbursts... these are not "problem behaviors." These are indications of UNMET NEEDS. Try and "discipline" a child (or adult) who is experiencing emotional dysregulation and watch the "problem behaviors" exacerbate.
