People always say "cats hide pain well" or "horses hide pain well", but really we humans also do this. You can tell animals are in pain if you know their body language, you can tell humans are in pain if you know how to speak to them as well. There's high functioning people with severe chronic pain.

Art is art. Even if the intent is "Sexual Gratification" it's still ART. You cannot put a limit on what people are allowed to make. The only exception is Ai. Ai is not art. aside from that, the people making these rules have no idea what they're talking about.

So usually a writer will go with the more simplistic "The Gleepglorps stole me nan" instead of making their fictional society as evil as the United States, and you end up with fundamentally bad writing and reductive, bigoted attitudes and politics in your work anyway.

More bad writing than I can name has to have a concrete, tangible reason that prejudice against a species or race exists. The Quarians made an AI, condemn the lot. The Krogans are violent. The Gleepglorps stole me nan fifty thousand years ago and now we all call them nannickers. It's absurd.

Simply put, most fantasy and sci-fi (bundled as spec fic) has massive storytelling and worldbuilding issues that stem from the dodgy politics of their writers. Much of this stems from the fact that fictional worlds have to be more coherent and make more "sense" than the real world.

So a very common pitfall writers fall into, over and over again, when writing alien or fantasy or simply non-human cultures, is making them more homogenous than humanity (narrative constraints apply here) and also providing "justification" for fantasy racism. They usually do this badly.

This is usually paired with a bad grasp of real-world racism. It's a tough pill to swallow that your founding fathers and authorities all rendered a demographic of people subhuman for the sole purpose of exploiting them, and it was a fundamentally unjustifiable act. People struggle with this.

If your product uses AI to advertise itself, I won't trust its quality. If you cut corners with the marketing, in what other areas have you done the same?

The discourse around "This is a tell for AI writing" really only serves the AI bros, because (they believe) it will tell them how to change the AI to make it indistinguishable from a human. We need to keep our em dashes. Our rules of three. The tell for AI is: is it hollow, does it say nothing.

Yeah this was the bare minimum. Make it clear shit isn’t ok, clarify the guidelines, and retroactively give the impacted players their gear, compiler skins, and goo gun.

I love WoW origins. Humans, dwarves and gnomes look comparatively similar because they all share an origin as descendants of divine robots. Humans can so easily wield such a wide variety of magic because they descend from the combat models specifically. Orcs can trace their origins to rocks
