I am not surprised by any of the kind of … poignancy a lot of people are finding in the Artemis II story. To me, it’s like talking to someone you love who you almost never get to see anymore. This is the kind of story I miss when every day makes me despair. How many more will we have?

The wars that you almost certainly oppose start in front of your house, at the curb, where you'll also find the bus and bike lanes that your neighbors oppose. It's immediately adjacent to the infill housing your neighbors also oppose. That NIMBY opposition is the cause of Ford F150s AND oil wars.

There are leftist and liberal Jewish people both here and in Israel who are sick in their soul of Netanyahu. Just as there are Christians who loathe Trump. Working past antisemitism to make alliances would curb AIPAC's power to disenfranchise voters.

I used to write the WaPo editorials on US-Africa policy, as well on as human rights and politics on the continent. To describe hundreds of thousands of deaths on the continent as “messy” is an absolute abomination.

as a kid I would count the weeks from hearing the toadsong to the week I could start watching for tiny, pinky-nail-sized toadlets to appear among the stones of the gravel driveway.

Whenever this discourse comes up, we inevitably have people talk past each other. *Absolute* quality of life has undeniably improved for most Americans since the 80s, (minus the ability to buy SFH). *Relative* quality of life an average American has compared to the wealthy? That gap has exploded.

In my experience with being older and knowing older people, including my professor father who died compos mentis at 91, 75 would be a great age limit. And I love the idea that retired judges who are able go on to contribute to other spaces in the public sphere.

Consider this, my friends

Human evolved over billions of years as social animals, we work in groups, we learn by looking at other humans and watching what they do. We don't learn well alone. We don't do well alone. Wire mothers give children brain damage. AI in Ed is just another wire mother.
