There's a lot of recency bias in here but these are my "this game rocks and I think more people should agree with me" games.

Whoever made Washington Prime gets my infinite thanks for making me recall Prime Target, a Mac-only FPS from 1997 that I honestly thought I'd hallucinated. Also those FMV cutscenes, hot damn.

Whenever I want to humble myself before a greater power, I pick Tetris 99 back up.

The best Next Fest demo I played this evening was Iron Nest: Heavy Turret Simulator. It's like Papers, Please except instead of a stamp, the fascist government for which you endlessly toil instead gives you a Howitzer.

Polygon using "politically charged" to dance around the views of a proud MAGA fuckwit is unexpected and disappointing.

Next Fest has been great so far because every game that has an AI disclosure also looks like it's trash.

It's really rare to find a puzzle game that strikes the perfect balance of being challenging while still feeling like it wants the player to succeed, and in that sense, Isles of Sea & Sky is one of the best I've played in years.
