I'm not sure if this is the consolation prize she wanted, but Kaori Sakamoto will always be famous for fostering a period of excellence, grace, and good sportsmanship in women's figure skating, something it was severely lacking. Thank you Kaori, figure skating is better for having you. ❤️

🇺🇸 Amber Glenn #MilanoCortina2026 I'm just really proud and happy of the legacy that, especially Alysa is leaving on the sport - of taking a step back and her mental health, are really a test to 'you never know what the journey to success will be'.

Thinking this might be Kaori's last performance made me so emotional, I wanted to remember it all. I want to become a skater like that, who is unforgettable.

Of course, having more difficult content (jumps) is a way to become stronger, but there are other ways to be stronger as well. I want to become stronger across all elements.

she is so protective of her fellow skaters (alysa and isabeau too!) even as people have been awful to her on social media since the team comp and i love that about her

amber shooing away the cameraperson from kaori sobbing...during ami's program she was comforting mone chiba who was upset...making sure every skater got a standing ovation while she was in the leader's chair...really respect her so much

Kaori's retirement has felt like the end of an era all season. If that's the case I hope that Alysa's gold heralds a new era of figure skating. Not better but different - an era for Donovan Carrillo, Tara Prasad, Jacob Sanchez, Erica Machida and other young skaters like them #MilanoCortina2026
