I received my first alien registration file back from the National Archives on one of my ancestors (United States for context). I was hoping it would be a large file - only two pages but it did give me some additional information. It's the roll of the dice in #genealogy.

People of Warrington, Lancashire. I feel sorry for anybody trying to find anybody in the 1700s. Apparently the image was not read by a human as the results bear little relation to the text. If the text is read and any occupation is given, it is used as a surname.
