it’s comical that GLADIATOR II has so much visual panache but lacks fundamental character writing and WICKED has delightful characters in the most lackluster photography…welp

#Wicked soars on the dynamism of its lead performers with superb craft in its costumes and sets. Erivo and Grande are magic incarnate, which makes it all the more disappointing that its bloated storytelling and distracting back lighting weigh it down. Net positive entertainment, but flawed.

fully recognize that the consensus frontrunner conversation has shaped around ANORA and THE BRUTALIST, but i have such a gut feeling that those movies don’t fit the bill of becoming the “movie of the year” at a time with such palpable political implications
