This could be a game-changer: Fusobacterium infection of the endometrium might contribute to endometriosis. In a study of 79 human patients Fusobacterium was more frequent in patients with endometriosis (64·3%) than in controls. In mice, antibiotic treatment appeared to be effective.

På delar av Vestlandet bøyer ein adjektiv som open og moden etc. også i eiga hokjønnsform (noko som ikkje er normert på nynorsk). Her seier t.d. Sirkel Sag «ei som e moda». Å til dømes måtte skrive «open dør» fell derfor ein del tungt for brystet.

Eulachon have such a high oil content (15-20% of their entire body weight!) that they burn can like a candle when dried - hence the name “candlefish." Their valuable rendered oil was also historically traded among tribes along the Pacific coast on routes known as grease trails

First—what does it mean to be wet? Turns out physicists defined this long before the is-water-wet-wars started: a wet surface has a small “contact angle” with water, meaning the water doesn’t bead up. Take a look at the water on a gecko’s skin—looks more like the “non-wetting” case, right? 2/8

Fun fact, a lot of wonderful scientific illustrations you see in the 19th century natural science publications, were done by women, usually spouses of the researchers as uncredited free labour. The famous finches, came from John Gould, his wife, Elizabeth, illustrated his ornithology books.
