Still love Arsene Wenger, but now Arteta too. Philosophy, Politics & Love.
Lots of stars are scoring lots of goals this tournament because FIFA have top 10 teams vs teams ranked 50 to 99 playing to the tune of: *spare your dignity for their history* & *record break enablers* & *we just glad 2 b here*

I think in situations like that they should give Uzbekistan a choice. The wonder goal stands but they're forced to play with 10 men for 10 minutes, do they take it or have goal disallowed, their choice 😂 to make history or not.

So weird for me to see Norway qualify for the knockouts, first time since 1998, Haaland and Odegaard tip this team over from being average to half decent on their day.

In 2016 I met Kristoffer Ayer in a Barbershop in Edinburgh, he'd just moved from Start to Celtic. We spoke in Norwegian and he seemed so humble and told me he was a footballer and left it at that until he asked me if I knew who Celtic were lol

I'm way too tribal about Arsenal to watch International Football with the same excitement. This is the equivalent of eating string cheese after years of Brie.

Watching Iraq play football at a WC... I just feel racially abused lmao, plz go back to being semi decent in the Asian Cup & leave this tournament for the pros.

It's not enough for Iraq to gift France its oilfields for production, it must gift them goals, assists and prop up Mbappe further to the ultimate heights of history.

1. France 2. England 3. Spain I think it's between those three if I had to choose, Germany's squad doesn't look right rn, Argentina overly reliant on Messi but I've seen stranger things. I really hope more random teams make the Semis like Norway, Mexico or Japan.

It's felt like so long that Klose had his record, to see Messi break it and Mbappe possibly match it in one day feels surreal. I'm not ready for history even when it's being made.

😅 I dreamed of Iraq and Norway reaching the World Cup for years due to my heritage and nationality. Iraq just happy to be there, I think Norway can actually make it to QF, maybe Semis if they get some luck.

It will never not be funny that all nine Argentinian players look like they'd sacrifice not only their own goal chances but also give up their first born sons to allow him to tap in, and meanwhile Portugal sounds like they are this close to a Murder on the Orient Express situation

De Bruyne & Lukaku look like they're carrying injuries, too heavy on passes and touches. Trossard been the only real live-wire here. Iran's entire team is worth $4m on transfermrkt lol

It's June 19th and I've not gotten drawn into any transfer gossip, like an addict I'm not seeing any withdrawal symptoms yet. May break at any second, but so far so good. It is quite freeing actually to not think about it at all or the discussions around them.

Every Qatari challenge appears to be out for revenge and not sportsman like at the moment. Won't be surprised if they end the game with 7 men. Feel really bad for Kone.

The movement Canada has had upfront and the short quick passing even if it goes wayward at times has been hugely impressive within this half. One of the most dominating halves I've seen for such a lowly ranked side.

Remarkable run Messi has been on after the age of 35 in terms of WC goalscoring and he's still not done. 10 goals in his last 8 WC matches.

For this WC, Brazil seem to have a major lack of generational talent coming through at RB and LB, Douglas Santos is now 32, Sandro is 35, Danilo too. Ibanez is 27 but usually plays CB/CDM.

USMNT could have stopped at one goal and played defence. Credit to Poch, Switzerland showing that you should always kill a game. Feel they can still win their group, but that's embarrassing lol, Qatar had less than a half xG.

I definitely think FIFA got the timings wrong for the WC. Most of EU/Africa/West Asia unable to watch most of the games due to timings. Quite possibly the largest audiences, all forced to watch highlights or stay up late/wake up early.

I've reported on Musk for around 8 years. I've co-authored a book on him. I don't think folks understand the rate of his wealth accumulation. Shortly after he helped elect Donald Trump in Nov 2024, his net worth was around $350 billion. That net worth has nearly tripled in less than two years.
