In a documentary I was involved in, there was a scientist who studied ghost bikes in Germany – and the memorial cards that relatives place on motorways where their loved ones were killed. These places are repeatedly cleared away by authorities and others because they ‘disturb the street scene’.

When Darin Kinniewess's family informed us that a second "spirit bike" had been removed from his memorial site, we decided to try something else. We hope this small plaque will be a lasting placeholder for the community to honour him and for others to reflect on the ongoing need for safer streets.
