Pleistocene steppe bison Bison Priscus. It inhabited Europe, Asia, and North America until the early Holocene and is the ancestor of modern European bison and American bison. I'm not sure if it's noticeable, but I was inspired by ancient images of bison and Altamira and other caves.

Palaeoplatyceros hispanicus- a muntjac-like deer from the Middle Miocene of Spain. Numerous antlers found on Otero Hill in Palencia allow to trace the age-related dimorphism of these animals. The illustration shows an adult, possibly even old, animal and a younger deer in the background.

piece finished for 2026: a super modern, 100% accurate take on Mosasaurus and a plesiosaur. In unrelated news, I had the spirit of the early 19th-century palaeoartist John Martin exorcised from my house over the weekend.

Nice when someone buying one of my artbooks (still available) asks for something interesting as a sketch. This is Squaloraja, a weird Early Jurassic 'shark ray.' Was fun to do.

Meganthropus palaeojavanicus of Sangiran, Central Java, Indonesia. A hominid that lived during the early-middle Pleistocene. Brush test from last year. The fur brush is by Ville Sinkkonen, which you can get from his gumroad. Easily my top 5 brushpacks.

Drake's Hoard, James Tarleton
I was tasked with creating an environment within Unreal Engine 5 and then lighting it. I felt a cave with a drake guarding its gold was an interesting premise.

Older painting showing a group of Pachyrhinosaurus wading through some water. This was the first time I really dove into learning about lenses and referencing wildlife photography for my paleoart, and I feel it was a big breakthrough for defining my approach!

So glad for people to get to see some of the animals I've spent the past couple of years looking after! I had the wonderful opportunity to design the looks of many of the species, and have worked on each animal in detail across the VFX process. Walking with Dinosaurs premieres later in 2025!

first art of 2025 is a fish! starting off strong a female Oncorhynchus rastrosus, the spike-toothed salmon. it's commonly misrepresented as a massive sockeye salmon with tusks slapped on, but we know that they didnt undergo any drastic levels of sexually dimorphic remodelling

the Dust hog or as we have lovingly decided to call it the Sluppy, is one of the strangest animals who calls world of rust and trenches home. It's a mammal that uses disintegration magic to pretty much swim through the earth. though their most strange feature probably is their inflatable input.
