I think the reason why Superman and Kpop Demon Hunters did so well was the stories-- while not super complex -- were sincerely told and not aiming for the most common denominator. KPDH prob thought they'd get the otakus, Kpop heads, musical nerds and the still wanted to tell this story. Now look.
