Monday was difficult but idk why, these past 2-3 days have been conflict free so maybe they are finally getting along now…

On top of cat integration stress, I’m still struggling with waking up every day feeling like cold water was dumped on me cuz my brain still struggles to accept it. I miss my dad 😞

Alas every time I post something positive about my cats and feel hopeful, they get into a spat…praying my heart is able to hold out for the months to come

Tomorrow marks ~2 months since I adopted Nova!! There’s still progress to go but I think we have made a lot of great strides in the past few weeks. She’s spending way less time in hiding and I’ve managed to bring down Cosmo’s play/aggression to where she can walk past him without too much hesitation

I liked 1 and 2’s storytelling better but 0’s party planning is fun

Trying very hard to finish Octopath Traveler 0 so I can shift away from gaming but it is…SO long…each “finale” chapter precedes another story arc lol it is easily 100+ hrs

Miss Nova I think is still a tad skittish of me but she has started to sit on her perch in my bedroom in the mornings waiting for me to wake up...I clutch my heart and fall to my knees

It's been 1.5 months now since I adopted Miss Nova. She mostly lives in the cat tree in my living room but has gotten better at venturing out and even running Cosmo over for food 😆 They still have small spats daily but I swear recently her tail is up while Cosmo chases her. What does this mean!

Cosmo chased Nova again just now and I swear her tail was up while running. She did just run back to the cat tree and didn’t reciprocate so I assume she is still afraid…?

I feel like a lot of what this consultant told me goes against common advice I’ve heard from peers/vets/Jackson Galaxy and she’s just this random lady with some reviews I paid $300 for so I’m like 😭 Like I thought playing with one cat in front of the other was a common integration tactic?????

Some other learnings from the cat consultant (unsure if others may learn smth new or maybe feel the info is inaccurate): -Playing with Cosmo in front of Nova may make her feel more scared of him since he’s “hunting” -When he charges at her I do need to intervene, specifically to redirect him via-

Does anyone know/have thoughts on Dr. Elsey’s dry kibble…? The consultant recommended this brand but I have never heard of them….

Does anyone have any thoughts about Hill’s Science Diet dry food? The cat consultant said Hill’s is awful and is the reason why Cosmo is overweight (despite maintaining ~200 calories daily) and gets hangry, which triggers aggression at Nova. However my vet heavily recommends Hill’s so I’m like ????

Had the pet behavior consultation today where Cosmo and Nova did get into a spat on camera and the consultant told me it’s because Cosmo was hangry (it was close to feeding time)…so it is aggression and not play 😭 At least I know now!

Thinking about the fact I caught Nova with her tongue sticking out after she finished playing yesterday…the first cat blep I’ve ever seen…it was sooooo cute 😭

Gosh I was so stressed I slept like 2 hrs but she has URI meds now and apparently was also missing a rabies vaccine (🙃) so we are all caught up and in the vet’s system, and I can rest easy.

Reporting back that I’m alive and Nova’s first vet appt actually went well! The Zylkene really worked so she was stressed but manageable and she got all the shots and meds she needs. I’m glad we were able to pull through with it today.

She didn’t do this last time but given her vocal aggression I am genuinely afraid she will launch herself at my face or smth

*Takes deep breaths through my nose that having to fight a screaming/hissing cat into the carrier is a normal occurrence for cat owners* Will my face/limbs remain intact tomorrow? I will report back…
