The stunning breeding plumage female Grey (Red) Phalarope at Spiggie, Shetland, this afternoon. What an incredible looking bird! Not often seen looking like this in the UK. My only other sighting was about a decade ago at Brandon Marsh, Warks!

Dungeness: Another record breaking sea watch with JS, DW, RW, JY, OL, CT et al. A huge 3,705 Pintail flew East most of them very high, quite possibly a national day total migration record.

The Seawatches continue at Dungeness, today 584 Gannets flew east, but by far and away the 3705 Pintail’s which flew east was a new daily record at Dungeness, full details at Trek Tellen.
